To reveal, reflect and redefine the true image of medicine.
Medical Mirror is the foremost official medical journalism and health communication platform in Nigeria, published by the IMJC team — uncovering the ills, celebrating the achievements.
Telling the medical story, accurately and without fear.
The platform focuses on accurately covering matters of the medical and allied-health sectors. Just as the name connotes, it exists to reveal, reflect and redefine the true image of the happenings in the medical and health space — without bias, prejudice, fears or favour.
It does this through investigative, advocacy and solution journalism: reporting ground-breaking medical news, events and innovations, and publishing editorials, interviews, features, case reports, expert commentaries and professional opinions. We also provide a platform for upcoming medical writers to showcase their work — in our bid to raise vibrant medical writers and journalists.
Why we are here — the need
The health sector is a vital asset of any society; unfortunately, the Nigerian health sector faces enormous challenges, strains and constraints — products of the underfunding, corruption and negligence that has besieged it over the years.
Yet the sector is disproportionately under-covered in mainstream media, because its dynamics and technicalities make the stories hard to tell accurately. If the stories — of achievements, opportunities and challenges — are not told, they cannot be heard. And if they are not heard, the link needed to attract the attention of citizens and government for action is missing.
What steers everything we publish
To see a redefined and working health sector that is trusted, efficient and available to all.
Utilising the tools of journalism to foster credibility, transparency, accountability and development in the medical sector.
Telling the medical stories…
Uncovering the ills, celebrating the achievements.
