College of Medicine students in LASU hold Entrepreneurship Summit

On Saturday, 30th of July, the fourth edition of the Lagos State University College of Medicine’s Entrepreneurship Summit was held at the College’s premises in Ikeja.

The event was chaired by Taofeek Sanusi, a 500 Level Student of the Lagos State University College of Medicine and in attendance were other prominent persons in the society who had excelled in their various fields of practice. The keynote speakers were Dr. Jide Idris, former Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, and Mr. Olusola Owonikoko, Executive Director, Stanforte Edge – who in his speech urged all participants to “Invest in community building because we do not go into the future, but we grow into the future”.

The theme “Entrepreneurial Innovation in the 21st century; Barriers and Contemporary Solutions” was the topic of debate during the panel session which was hosted by Akinwunmi Akingbola and Mary Alowonle, and it (the session) featured, Mr. M.O. Oladapo, a certified Life Coach, Trainer, Brand and Business Consultant, Mr. Uchenna Chiboka, Co-founder Oystrfinance Limited, and Dr. Opeyemi Oladunjoye, the General Manager of LifeCenter Medical Services.

The Pitch Competition, which is also one of the major highlights of the Summit involves students presenting their pitch deck (business) ideas, it was won by Elikwu Rhema (CEO, Adela’s Oils), who went home with a cash prize of undisclosed amount. The Summit was convened by Ayodele Itunuoluwa and Oladunni Zainab; both students of the College.
