Higher Institutions appoint Medical Professors as Vice Chancellors

Amidst the ongoing ASUU strike holding the education sector of the country in ransom; some lights still shine through the gloom…

Earlier in the month, we have had professors in the medical field announced and appointed into the highest office of some institutions across the nation.

In the centre of Excellence, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya – on the 4th of October – was appointed as the pioneer substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu. Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya is a Professor of Community Health and Primary Care.

Shortly after, on the 7th of October, history was made in UNILAG. Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola was appointed as the 13th Vice-Chancellor and first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), since its inception – 60 years ago. Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola is a Professor of Medical Microbiology, with background medical degree and a PhD.

Also, in the Gateway state, the Governing Council of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye – on the 5th of October – approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Johnson Agboola, as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the institution. Professor Ayodeji Olayinka Johnson Agboola is a Professor of Cancer Pathology with a M.B. Ch. B. degree and a Ph.D in Cancer Pathology as well.

This is an inspiration and great feat attained in the medical profession, and we wish these medical elders a successful tenure in their various institution and beyond.
